Podcasts

After reading Richardson’s writing on podcasts (something I was not familiar with until last week), this seems to be a great, and apparently simple way for most anyone find and share their voice with thousands of others with the same (or not so same) interests. Wether it is a broad spectrum of interests to browse from http://www.digitalpodcast.com/, or something more specific (as specific as raising a border collie dog http://www.clickertraining.com/node/973), the niches for listening and posting are nearly limitless.

I found this guide http://www.podcast411.com/olddir.html pretty helpful to get me started, and soon thereafter discovered that this was only a springboard to a huge world of voices and ideas that can be helpful in a classroom setting. One of the suggestions from Richardson reminded me of an assignment I had a few semesters ago. I had to visit various works of art around the campus, while reading and answering various comments and questions about them. This now seems like a perfect opportunity to use a podcast. I also liked the idea of orientations and “pod tours” for new students.

I also found this “plain English” explanation pretty helpful.
