meme, schmeme…really?

The internet is rife (yeah, I said rife) with mis-dis-and un-unformation (I may have made that last one up).

Don’t believe me? how about this connection telling you how bad water is for you? (It does, in fact cause urination and sweating.), or a very informative page telling you that Belgium does not exist..?

These are some of the more egregious ones, the more outrageous ones that help to prove a point. Pages like these (memes) are all over the place, and SO many people (and tons of students) believe that “If I read it on the web….it must be TRUE!”.

What can we all learn from just this small sampling of this type of phenomena?? (Do you really have to ask???)

There is a VERY good chance that if you read it on the internet, it may…or may not…be researched…It may…or may not be objective. It may…or may not propagate alien takeover of the Earth and its moon, (perhaps even the invisible one that scientists have told us does not exist…but George Lucas knows the REAL truth)
